Thymeless Bath and Oils: Great Source for Natural Bath and Scented Products

I recently had the pleasure of trying some of the Thymeless Bath and Oils products (Soy Bricklet, Linen/Room Spray, Bar Soap, Roll-On Perfume), and I was impressed at how gentle and wonderful the scents were.  I LOVE them!  Thymeless sells the following (all handmade from natural products): soap, shea butter lotion, shea body butter, sugar scrubs, candles, soy bricks for melting pots and warmers, linen/room sprays, and roll-on perfumes.

What was more impressive was that out of the four scents I experienced, I loved them all, and that is saying something!  I am really picky when it comes to scents, because my nose often itches and I get headaches from most scents.  As a result, I burn candles for fun, but tend to only do it on special occasions, and you practically have to be getting married or having a funeral for me to wear perfume.  Not so with these - I had absolutely no problems being around these scents.

Here are the scents I experienced:  Olive Blossom (not overly girly, perfect for a house full of males ranging from 2 to 35), Fresh Cut Tulip (another lightly floral scent perfect for daily use), Lavender and Rosehips (a new favorite that smells like a very expensive perfume when used as a roll-on perfume), Lilac and Raspberries (what can I say, another scent I didn't know that I loved).  Each of these scents comes highly recommended by me!  And don't worry - if you don't like the more floral scents, they have plenty of others!

Stop by Wendi's Book Corner where I wrote a much more detailed review.

*Disclosure: I received samples of four different products in order to provide a review in coordination with Karma Media's Campaign for Thymeless Bath and Oils.  All opinions are 100% mine!

Thymeless Bath and Oils - Review - Wonderful Scents and High Quality Products

Thymeless Bath and Oils specializes in handmade soaps, lotions, scrubs and a few other items such as candles, linen sprays and roll-on scents, all of which are made from all-natural ingredients that are good for you.

I recently received a sample pack for review in participation with a Karma Media Campaign, and I love both the scents and how lovely each item is.

Soy Brick ~ Fresh Cut Tulip: The Soy Bricks work in any wax warmer (Scentsy, melting pot, tart warmer).  You simply break off a small portion of the brick and place it in the warmer.  As it melts, it makes the room smell wonderful.  The Fresh Cut Tulip is a very nice, lightly floral scent, and I'm LOVING it!

Linen/Room Spray ~ Olive Blossom: This spray can be used on your bed linens or around the house to help freshen the room and provide a pampered feeling.  The Olive Blossom scent was a really nice scent for our home because it isn't too girly, but still provides a really nice and enjoyable scent (I have to be careful on household scents as I have 2 boys and a husband - I'm really outnumbered, and they are ok with some girly scents, but when it comes to the bedroom and where they sleep, too girly is just too much!).  I found it really relaxing and it made me feel... happy and content!

Roll-On Perfume ~ Lavender and Rosehips: This is a wonderful (and natural, so it is good for you) alternative to traditional perfumes.  Roll-on perfume comes in a small vial-type glass container with a roller-ball.  It is EASY to use, and a little goes a long way (I'm guessing because it is scented using essential oils instead of man-made scents).  I was really impressed with the Lavender and Rosehips scent.  It is a very pleasant floral scent that smells like a really expensive perfume.  I was not overwhelmed by the scent and it is a great scent for special occasions and daily wear.

Bar Soap ~ Lilac and Raspberry: These bar soaps are made using palm oil, olive oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, castor oil, shea butter, silk, herbs and fragrance oils.  The result is a wonderfully nourishing soap that leaves your skin clean and soft.  I've had a love/hate relationship with many bar soaps, and this is the first one that I've absolutely fallen in love with!  The scent is light and AMAZING, it doesn't dry my skin out, and I enjoy using it in the shower.

If you were to ask me which of the scents I loved the best, I honestly wouldn't be able to pick one, and the great news is that I loved them ALL!  Usually I'm really picky with scented items, and will find I like only one, not the case with the Thymeless scents.  They really were all wonderful.

Thymeless Bath and Oils: Bar Soaps
The Thymeless Bath and Oils products have become a favorite, and I highly recommend them.  They would be great for gifts too.  Each comes very nicely packaged and can be mixed and matched.

*Disclosure: I received samples of each of the products mentioned above so that I could review them and share my thoughts with you.  All thoughts are my own opinions.  This review was done in coordination with Karma Media, to read more reviews, visit the Karma Media Team website at www.KarmaMediaTeam.com

Celebrate With Your Own Candyland Cake

Our son turned 5 on Christmas Eve, and we always try to make his day extra special, so when he requested this Candyland Cake that he saw in one of my magazines, I jumped at the opportunity to make it.

(I found this cake in a Taste Of Home Magazine, and they now have it available online too: Candyland Cake)

The cake itself is made from a brownie recipe (also a special request from our little guy after he had the brownies at a football party with family) that I shared here: Best Ever Brownie Recipe.

It was a blast to make as I generally followed the Taste of Home Magazine example, and then put a few of my own tweaks in to make it more personalized and special for our son.

Candy Used:
Starburst
Tootsie-Pops
Lollipops
Mini Candycanes
Pepermint Candies
Marshmellows
Rock Candy
Gummy Soldiers
Sprinkles
Heart Candies (similar to Skittles)
Gum Drops (both large and small)
Gummy Penguins
Small Colored Chocolate Balls
A few other things I used were ice cream cones (cut them down, turned them upside down and piped frosting on to make the mountains in the upper left corner), edible markers, and Candyland figures from the actual game (I did purchase a brand new game and hand-washed the figures to make sure they were really clean).

Steps:

1. I lightly frosted the cake to create a basic base for the design
2. Frosted the entire cake with light green for the finished background
3. Created the edging around the cake
4. Unwrapped Starburst candies and started to lay them out, along with other key pieces to map out my game board
5. Made the mountains in the upper left corner by cutting ice cream cones with a serrated knife, then placing it on the cake and adding frosting to make them look like mountain peaks
6. I continued to fill in the board with candy pieces

7. I added a few personal touches for our son (the Gummy Army Men, Gummy penguins, small chocolate balls around the edges)
8. I used edible markers to write Happy Birthday on the Starburst candies

Here are a few close-ups as my camera isn't really doing this cake justice!

As a final note, I'll add that this cake was a HUGE hit at our son's Chuck E Cheese birthday party on Christmas Eve, and that I had 3 requests to make it for other people, even with the brownie filling!

I will also note that this cake was able to feed a LOT of people because no one could eat a normal sized piece, just about everyone was VERY happy with a small piece as it was so rich.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think!  Have you made a cake and posted a picture online?  If so, leave a link - I'd love to see it.  :)

Tip Time: Easily and Safely Remove Eye Makeup While Saving Money

Last year, I had my first EVER eye infection, which ended up getting over treated and my tear ducts stopped working! I guess it was a good thing, because it was also the second time in my entire life that I had been to see an eye doctor (the only other time, I was about 7, and I am 35 now... shhhh, don't tell anyone else... so it has been a LONG time).

I learned two great things: 1. My vision is perfect, so I don't need to go back for a while. 2. The eye specialist told me that women often use expensive and harsh eye-makeup removers that actually dry out their eyes, and I was one of them.

How to fix the problem: He told me to use a tiny drop of baby shampoo diluted to wash the makeup away. It has fewer ingredients than most make-up removers and is very gentle on your skin and eyes.  (It also saves a bunch of money over the make-up remover I WAS using)

1. Put a small drop of baby shampoo on your finger
2. Add water to your hand
3. Gently rub your hands together to dilute the baby shampoo and create a very light lather
4. Rub around eyes (I do my entire face) with VERY gentle circles to loosen eye make-up, especially around the lash line

Have any tips you'd like to share?  Feel free to leave a comment!

Nature's Sleep Vitex Memory Foam Pillow - Giving Me The Best Sleep Ever

Nature's Sleep Logo
For years I've had trouble sleeping because my jaw would ache. I needed to sleep in one position and keep my jaw propped by an extra pillow.  I very rarely slept through the night, simply because my aching jaw would wake me up.  Until I slept on my new Nature's Sleep Vitex2 Memory Foam Pillow.   I think I had the best night of sleep EVER!  Not only did my jaw NOT ache, but I slept so soundly.

The Queen Vitex2 Memory Foam Pillow is the perfect firmness for me, but if you don't like a somewhat firm pillow, you can look at some of their other pillows: Faux Down (softer, huggable), Viscolite (softish, memory foam), Visco Memory Foam Contour (moderate density).

I'm loving my new pillow, and so is our 2 year old.  He sneaks in and tries to nap on my pillow whenever he can.

The website is easy to use and provides a lot of information.  Each pillow type is well described and covers firmness and what the pillow is best for (sleeping on your back, side, stomache, supporting breathing/snoring, etc).  The pillow price already includes the tax (so what you see is what you pay), free shipping, and comes with a 3 year limited warranty.  You can also purchase high quality memory foam mattresses on their site as well.

I learned that Nature's Sleep is an eco-friendly company, taking extra efforts to continually make their carbon footprint smaller, and doing their best to protect and conserve global resources.  This endears them in my mind even more.

There are two ways for you to get your own brand new pillow:  head over to their site and buy one, or come enter my giveaway - Natures Sleep has generously allowed me to give away one of their Vitex2  Memory Foam Queen Pillows (just like mine).  Enter HERE.
